For centuries, on a far-flung black-magic island in the Indonesian archipelago, indigenous women have been using an ancient weaving technique to create rangrang fabric from cotton threads.
Each piece is woven from one single continuous thread and is completely unique in colour and pattern. Traditionally made to wear as sarongs for Hindu ceremonies, the women would gather flowers, leaves and the bark of mango trees to create dyes before hand-weaving the thread on a wooden loom into their distinctive motifs.
These narrow pieces are the perfect way to dress and liven an elegant dining table.
